Rural Food Forest Retreat

One and a half hours north of Newcastle at OLOWOF's first rural retreat, volunteers tend to the abundant food forest that contains a variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs and nuts. Here on the property we currently are growing pears, macadamias, bananas, dragon fruit, persimmons, mulberries, plums, bush lemons, oranges, limes, mangoes, passionfruit, vanilla, rosemary, lavender, aloe vera and pumpkin.

We primarily use fresh cuttings and heirloom seeds passed down from our community and grow all produce chemical free. The forest is watered naturally from falling rainwater and water that runs off a number of roofs and is captured in tanks.

There’s nothing like getting your hands dirty, growing your own food and of course creating and sharing something extra special with those you care for. We feel very fortunate to be able to connect with the land and the wildlife that regularly visit us who also benefit from accessing our beautiful food forest.

We hope over time to develop this property as a place where people in need can come for respite, and to help all reconnect with nature.
